Travers Ross

I have been traveling to the states back and forth now since I was 19.

I have loved going there and meeting dancers from the large community we have. This keeps us connected worldly, gaining fresh movements, meeting international artists. I also learnt the history throughout the original black contemporary companies from New York, the Real Hip hop knowledge direct from the Bronx and the fancy hollywood styles in L.A.

Swoop

Spending time in 2004 with Swoop I learnt alot about the history of the hollywood high class back up dancer industry and alot about dancing on film. He is defiantly one thats had alot of  experience in that, from MC hammer to Aliyah, Backstreet boys, Madonna, J.Lo just to name a few. Meeting Swoop also taught me to follow the path of your inspirations. When I was a boy I was inspired by the Track ‘Everybody” by Backstreet boys which Swoop choreographed and now I’m hanging with the choreographer like a brother with a spiritual connection. Swoop has been in the high class of entertainment since a very young age and I have alot of respect for him to be able to do that and still be a genuine bloke and have time for anyone and everyone.

Sean Evaristo, Swoop, Daetravoo

I have always been told that my class has been a major challenge and my style was indescribable and weird. Now there is another dancer to be able to show this similar style speaking from another voice. Since the good old youtube began I discovered a dancer named Shaun Evaristo when he had his first gen2 clip up and I was so freaked out and inspired that someone out there had a similar view to dance as myself. Yet he is still very different, I was brought up on the coast, Surfing and skating and had a similar coastal style of flavor of dance as him.

Sean Evaristo

There was something about him that I could see in myself and I had to explore more and train with him. So I did, After meeting Shaun it has been a goal of mine to bring him to Utopian Dream, introducing him to Australia. Swoop was at the festival in Jan 09, next lets hope Shaun Evaristo with a few other artist from around the world will be down for the trip to Oz. It will be a chance to represent their styles and learn our Australian grown dance culture and the styles off our dance artists.
